The professionals at Body Specific can help you choose the best massage for you

Trigger Point Therapy

Also known as Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy applies concentrated pressure to “trigger points” (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain. When pressure is applied to the trigger points the muscle can then relax and the pain is lessened.

Swedish Massage

The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of gentle therapeutic massage techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by the use of kneading, long stroking motions, friction, and vibration. This increases the oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins from the muscles.

Craniosacral

The therapist uses light touch to detect and release restrictions or tension in this system, aiming to enhance the body’s natural healing abilities and promote overall well-being.  This technique is often associated with relaxation and may be used to address various conditions, including stress, headaches, and musculoskeletal issues.

A 60-or 75-minute session is recommended.

Reiki

Reiki is a safe and natural method of spiritual healing and self-improvement, which also balances the chakras (energy centers of the body.)  Very effective with all illnesses and therapeutic treatments, Reiki promotes balance within the nervous system.  Administered with a simple laying of the hands, Reiki feels like a warm, subtle current of energy blanketing the body.

Cupping

Therapists place special cups, made of glass or silicone, directly to skin on various parts of the body to create a vacuum.  This process is used to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and general well-being.

Fire & Ice Massage

Fire and Ice Massage is a 75 minute massage specifically designed to aid in deep tissue massage with focused heat followed by targeted coolness for pain relief and trouble areas.

Sports massage

Sports massage prior to an event aids in warming and loosening the muscles so that performance and endurance will be enhanced and risk of injury lessened. Following an athletic event, Sports Massage may be used to relieve pain, prevent stiffness, and return the muscles back to their normal state. It can also be used in injury rehabilitation or ongoing maintenance of the muscles relevant to the event.

Clients must wear loose, athletic wear for this appointment.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal therapeutic massage focuses on the mother-to-be as she goes through the changes due to pregnancy. Treatment will be focused on the concerns of each trimester. Prenatal massage can help with excess water retention, muscle and joint aches, and mental and physical fatigue.

We recommend massage after your first trimester.

Lymphatic Massage

Lymphatic Massage is a gentle and rhythmic form of massage designed to stimulate the lymphatic system.  The massage technique involves light pressure and specific movements that follow the natural flow of the lymphatic vessels.

Sheila specializes in Lymphatic Massage. A 60-minute session is recommended.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth heated stones as an extension of their own hands.  The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles.

Deep Tissue

This type of massage focuses on targeting deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.  With applying firm pressure it helps to release tension and alleviate chronic pain, stiffness, and muscle knots. This is a more intense treatment.
